TAP International Journalism Internship Program

What the interns say about the TAP experience

  • My time in Armenia was pivotal in bringing back my love for journalism and in confirming my motivation to pursue my passion for finding stories and reporting about them. I found myself in a place where work was never a burden, but an opportunity to further learn and explore a country that never fails to amaze with its unique history and culture.

    - Martina Sanna, London School of Journalism
    2025 Fall

  • I have learnt to write pieces with sharper angles and precise storytelling. I have learnt that precision and attention to detail is key at all stages of a piece- research, reporting, writing and rereading- in order to create something impactful. Also, living in Armenia has also been deeply insightful, especially somewhere with closed borders - where these are a daily reminder of the recent painful conflicts.

    - Martha Gathercole, University of Oxford
    2025 Summer

  • This internship gave me a newfound, unexpected passion for international journalism and geopolitics, and it's a path I am likely to follow when I graduate. I am so thankful to TAP for giving me the opportunity to discover this passion, and as an Armenian American, I also reconnected with my heritage in a way I wouldn't have been able to without this unique experience.

    - Charlotte Snoonian, Boston University
    2025 Summer

  • As a foreigner dreaming to be an international reporter and photoreporter, I've really felt I was doing what I love with freedom and guidance.

    - Michele Crestani, London School of Journalism
    2025 Summer

  • Armenia pleasantly surprised me with its warm hospitality. Professionally, I learned how to report on a country that has faced many challenges and disappointments from the world, and personally, I was deeply moved by the kindness and resilience the people carry every day.

    - Minahil Arif, UC Berkeley University
    2025 Summer

  • My time in Armenia was highly rewarding and an unforgettable experience. I improved my professionalism and diversified my portfolio and skills in journalism.

    -Audrey Sears, Stonehill College
    2024 Summer

  • This experience will definitely set me apart from candidates in future job applications, as it shows initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to take on the unknown. I feel there's a lot to explore here as a journalist, whether that be humanitarian issues, emerging industries, or the country's shifting international relations.

    - Sophie Holloway, City University, London
    2024 Fall

  • Learning about the country from an angle that extends beyond conflict and is often underreported in foreign media, was the most impactful part of my TAP journey.

    - Sonya Dymova, Northwestern University
    2024 Summer

  • My time in Armenia has paved my path towards success and opportunity in international journalism and beyond. Armenias culture, cooking, and community was just the cherry on top of an already life-changing program.

    -Emily Hanna, Ohio University
    2024 Fall

  • The most valuable part of my internship was working with various media, allowing for creative storytelling. I’m grateful to have immersed myself in Armenia’s rich history, culture, and cuisine—it is a truly special place.

    - Skylar Yoder, King’s College London
    2023 Fall

  • Take the leap of faith and do the program! It is an extremely interesting and rewarding experience. My time at CivilNet this summer taught me about the power of storytelling in journalism. It is not just breaking news that deserves an article, but the longer form stories that hold snippets into people’s lives.

    - Mane Berikyan, University of Southern California
    2023 Summer
